^ Romario kissing the trophy Brazil had been waiting to get their hands on. They had won the Jules Rimet Cup permanently in 1970, but had never won this new trophy which was launched for the 1974 World Cup.

^ Franco Baresi clears away the ball before Romario. The Italian captain played the game of his life in the final. He got injured in a first round match and missed every game leading up to the final, but in the final itself Baresi proved to be the classy defender everyone knew he was.
^ Paolo Maldini and Romario battle for possession. Romario was given little space in this final which turned out to be an anti-climax compared to many of the earlier games in this World Cup.
